We’re not much for celebrating Valentine’s Day. Not really. As with all things too good to be true, we’re somewhat suspicious. We can’t help ourselves. We find the real side of love a bit darker than the typical take on Valentine’s Day. We welcome broken hearts, lonely hearts, and bleeding hearts as well as the gushy ones. We honor the way that love impacts us with ferocity in all ways, not just the feel-good kind. And we welcome the sting of love and tears that come with cutting through it, just like cutting an onion.
For Valentine’s Day, we offer you a poem by Carol Ann Duffy and a menu inspired by it.
